How coins work

Coins pay for books. Here is where they come from, where you see them, and why they never run out on you.

Coins are what a book costs. One coin buys one illustrated page. New accounts start with 10 coins. That is enough for a book of up to 8 pages, before add-ons such as extra characters.

The Wallet and Coins page: the coin balance at the top and three plan cards below it — Monthly, 3 months and A Year of Stories.
Your balance is at the top of Wallet & Coins. Plans and coin packs are on the same page.

Where coins come from

  • The welcome bonus, when you create an account.
  • A plan, which adds coins every month.
  • A coin pack, bought once whenever you need more.
  • A gift — a friend can give you a year of stories.

Coins on the way

On the yearly plan you pay once for the year, and the coins arrive one month at a time. The ones still to come are shown as on the way, beside your balance — not inside it. They are already paid for, and they keep arriving every month even if you cancel.

Open Transaction history on the Wallet & Coins page. Each row is a book, a refund, or a top-up, with its date. Tap a row to see its reference number, which is what to send us if a charge looks wrong.

The Coin history window: a list of rows such as New book and Coins refunded, each with a date and an amount.
