Layan peered through her round pink glasses at the rosebush. Her large brown eyes went wide with wonder. Under a big green leaf sat a tiny village of teacup homes and button streets. "Look, Sondos!" Layan whispered.
A tiny man in a leaf hat waved from a spool tower. "Our village is sad," he squeaked. "Our golden music bead is stuck inside the tower, so we cannot sing!" Layan wanted to make the little village giggle again.
Layan smiled her joyful smile. "I will help you," she said. She reached out her hand to grab the tiny bead. But her fingers were much too big for the little spool tower.
Sondos knelt down, her long ponytail swishing in the grass. "Be careful, Layan," Sondos said softly. "Our hands might knock over their teacup houses." Layan looked at the delicate village and felt worried.
Layan found a long, thin twig on the ground. She carefully poked the twig into the top of the spool tower. But the twig slipped! The golden bead fell even deeper into the dark wood.
The tiny folk gasped and looked very scared. Layan felt bad for making a mistake, but she did not give up. Wavy wisps of brown hair tickled her face as she thought. "I need something stretchy," she said.
