Fixing a problem

A story is stuck or did not start

Work through why a book has not finished, and what happens to your coins.

Updated Sep 29, 20262 min read

A book is made in stages: the words, then the cover, then a picture for every page. Each stage has its own look on the screen, so first find which one you are waiting on.

  • The words are quick, usually under a minute or two.
  • The review step waits for you. It is not a delay.
  • The pictures take the longest. They arrive gradually, and the book can be read while they do.

What happens to your coins

If a whole book fails, the coins for it are returned automatically to whoever paid, and it shows as a Coins refunded row in the history. A book that finishes but is missing a few pictures is repaired for free instead. See “Failed books, refunds and free repairs”.

Work through it

Start at the top — the checks are ordered by what is most often the cause.

  1. The story is waiting for you to read it

This is not stuck. Lolo writes the words first and waits for you to approve them. Open the story, read it, and choose Looks good — illustrate it. If you do nothing, it is approved for you after 24 hours.

  2. The words are there but the pictures are still arriving

You can already read the book while the pictures are painted, one after another. A 12-page book normally takes a few minutes. Leave it, and it will finish by itself.

  3. You see “Generation Didn’t Start”

If nothing has begun after about 45 seconds, the story shows this message with a Try again button. Press it once. It is free to retry — you are only charged once for the book.

  4. It has been more than 30 minutes

Something on our side has stalled. Message us with the story’s title. We will finish it, or refund it, and you do not need to make it again.
