Two different things can go wrong with a picture, and they are handled differently.
- A picture failed to draw. The page is left blank, the rest of the book is finished, and repairing it is free.
- A picture was drawn but you would like a different one. Re-drawing a page costs 1 coin. You can restore the earlier version for free if you change your mind.
Work through it
Start at the top — the checks are ordered by what is most often the cause.
A page has no picture
Open the book. If any pages are missing pictures, a Missing pieces card offers a repair. Use it — repairing a page that failed to draw is always free.

If the hero’s portrait failed, use Redraw on the character. It is a free repair. To keep a real person’s likeness the same on every page, turn on Face Match for that character.
You re-drew a picture and liked the old one better
Choose Previous version in the story editor to bring the earlier picture back. It is free.
